The name of the barangay was derived from a plant known as “tambo” used in making brooms called “walis tambo.” Formerly the land area seemed small because it is surrounded by rivers. The word “kulit” came from the uncontrollable growth and spreading of the plant tambo within the area.
Barangay Tambo Munting Kulit was established in 1851 under the leadership Gobernadorcillo Alejandro de Ocampo. It is more or less six kilometers away from the población. It is bounded on the north by Tambo Balagbag, on the south by Lumampong Halayhay, on the east by Tambo Ilaya and Harasan and on the west by Lumampong Balagbag.
