Barangay Kaytapos was formerly a sitio of Barangay Bancod. It became a separate barangay by virtue of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Ordinance No. 03-1990 approved on November 15, 1990.
Primarily classified as rural with a total land area of 65 hectares, the Barangay is more or less one kilometer away from the población. It is bounded on the north by Barangay Bancod, on the south by Barangay Buna Cerca, on the east by Barangay Alulod and on the west by Barangay Poblacion I.
