Buna Lejos 1
The name “Buna” came from a Spanish word “Buena” which means good or right conduct. Buna was divided into two barangays namely, Buna Lejos and Buna Cerca. It was first named “Buena Conducta” but was changed to Buna Lejos because it is located farther from the población, while Buna Cerca is nearer. In 1991, Buna Lejos was divided into Buna Lejos I and Buna Lejos II.
Primarily classified as rural with a total land area of 173 hectares, Barangay Buna Lejos I is located on the southern part more or less four kilometers from the población. It is bounded on the north by Barangay Buna Cerca, on the south by Barangay Mahabang Kahoy Lejos, on the east by Barangay Pangil of Amadeo, and on the west by Barangay Buna Lejos II.
As the basic political unit, the Barangay serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of the government policies, plans, programs, projects and activities and as a forum wherein the collective views of the people may be expressed and considered and where disputes may be amicably settled.
