Barangay Mahabang Kahoy Cerca was established in 1851 under the leadership of Gobernadorcillo Alejandro de Ocampo. It is more or less one kilometer away from the población. Primarily classified as rural with a total land area of 385.89 hectares, the Barangay is bounded on the north by Barangay Buna Cerca, on the south and west by Barangay Kayquit III and on the east by Barangay Buna Lejos.
As the basic political unit, the Barangay serves as the primary planning and implementing unit of the government policies, plans, programs, projects and activities and as a forum wherein the collective views of the people may be expressed and considered and where disputes may be amicably settled.
